Project Information

The African Textiles Today Exhibition is a touring museum exhibit on loan from The British Museum in London.

    • An innovative exhibition that explores how the printed and woven textiles of eastern and southern Africa mirror the region’s ever-changing times, fashions, and tastes.
    • Using the existing lighting tracks, controls, and fittings to achieve conservation lighting as specified by The British Museum – Loans and Display Department.
    • Demonstrate how the cloth is used to celebrate influential people and distinguished occasions, for example, Nelson Mandela and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
    • Special lighting techniques will accentuate the texture and identity of each piece, creating an immersive experience for visitors.
